This year’s opening concert is a very special event: a hand-picked orchestra made up of the very best players in the area put together especially for Adur Arts Live. On the programme is Beethoven’s sunniest symphony No. 4, a group of earthy folk music arrangements by Bartok and the most famous trumpet concerto of all by Haydn played by one of Britain’s greatest trumpeters, Paul Archibald.

With its mix of choir, recordings of African music, percussion and solo musicians, this has become one of this country’s most popular large scale works. It is powerful, majestic, soulful and hugely inspiring. Also in the programme will be an exciting new work by Chris Gander entitled Monsoon. Using a bank of tuned and untuned percussion, thework will depict the different moods before, during and after a monsoon. A veritable deluge of sound, subtlety and mood. A concert that will engage you with its variety and colour.
